DESCRIPTION
This allover textured hat is playing with twisted lines and cables and includes some fun nubbs/bobbles. A kind of classical hat that can brighten up dusty winter days by using pops of color. This hat is designed with the beautiful babyalpakayarn DK by Hansafarm in mind which is incredible soft and warm and comes in a huge variety of wonderful colors.

The Pattern is tech edited and testknit approved.

SIZES
1 / 2
(small (to fit small adult heads and kids (8+)) / medium (to fit medium adult heads)
The difference between size 1 and 2 is mainly the circumference of the Brim, and the height of the Main Part. The Main Part circumference is exactly the same, so it will be a bit more slouchy for smaller heads and a bit more fitted for larger heads.
Finished circumference (Main Part): 44 cm (17,25 inches) to fit head circumference 48-54 cm (19- 21,25 inches) / 50-60 cm (19,75-23,5 inches)
Finished height: approximately 23 / 26 cm (9 / 10,25 inches) (measured with brim folded)

SKILL LEVEL
medium

NEEDLES
Circular needles in 2 sizes: 3,0mm (US 3) and 4,0mm (US 6) or sizes to obtain gauge, with a length of 40cm (16inches)
If you choose to start with a tubular cast-on, you need an additional circular needle at least one size bigger than your larger size needle.
-->You can make the hat just using circular needles, using the magic loop method for the crown. If you do not want to use this method, use double-pointed needles instead.

GAUGE
32 sts x 32 rounds = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches ) working in 1 x 1 Rib pattern with smaller size needle in the round, blocked
30 sts x 16 rounds = 11 x 5,5 cm (4,25 x 2,25 inches) = one Main Part pattern repeat with larger size needle in the round, blocked

YARN
Hansa Farm, Baby Alpaca 100, DK weight, 100% alpaca, 100 m (109 yds) per 50g), 2 balls in colour HF197 (berry), NFA10 (light grey) or HF275 (green)
-->You can use any yarn that matches the requested gauge
-->You need around 150-180 m (138-165 yds) of a dk-weight yarn for a hat without a folded brim and around 160-200 m (147-187 yds) of a dk-weight yarn for a hat with a folded brim
-->Yardage may vary a bit from knitter to knitter, yarn to yarn!

YOU NEED
Stitch marker (1 or 4), Cable needle, Tapestry needle, blocking materials (balloon: optional), scrap yarn and crochet hook matching to your largest circular needle size for provisional cast-on (optional)
