This stunning crescent-shaped shawl was inspired by the fade fashion made popular by Andrea Mowry and Steven West, along with the vivid colors found in today’s indie-dyed yarns.

Here, I use three complimentary colorways, held double in different ratios to create a fade without having to work stripes. As a bonus, the yarn, held double, creates a wonderfully squishy fabric that is both weighty and airy. Beginning knitters will have little trouble with the basic stitches used: knit, purl, yarn over, knit 2 together, slip slip knit, and knit front back.

The name - Izzy’s California Fade - was inspired by the colorways I chose, reminiscent of a vibrant west coast sunset. It is the debut collaboration between me and Izzy Knits, a virtual local yarn shop also based in Southern California.
