Jane Mittens
by Eva Tieber
My Jane Mittens are inspired by the beautiful wool and silk mittens that were popular in the 18th and early 19th Century.
I love to imagine my favourite author Jane Austen wearing these when writing one of her novels at the small writing table at Chawton House or when helping her sister Cassandra maintaining the gardens.
They are designed to fit a glove size 8/8.5 (circumference palm ca 19 to 21 cm). However, you can easily achieve different sizes by going up or down with the needle size.
Techniques used in this pattern:
knit, purl, yarn over, knit 2 together, purl 2 together, slip slip knit, make 1 right, make 1 left, knit 1 through backloop
The pattern includes the lace pattern which is in written and charted form.
