I was absolutely thrilled to be asked to take part in this year’s BAM CAL 2023 and feel honoured to feature alongside such talented designers. I have designed this square with plenty of texture and tactile stitches which I hope will provide interest and you will enjoy creating.
A full list of special stitches and abbreviations is included at the start of the pattern. I have also included round by round photos which should assist you on this creative journey. This square is most suitable for intermediate to advanced crocheter’s due to the complexity of some of the stitches and the stitch placements. Hopefully you will enjoy the challenge and the satisfaction of completing this block.
This square was made with an assortment of colours of DK yarn and a 4mm hook.
Instructions are also included for a one yarn/colour version.

This square is dedicated to my wonderful sister Janey. The layered flower represents the lifelong friendship between siblings, with popcorns and puffs to represent all those fun moments shared. The petals are shaped like hearts to signify the love between us. I have included front post stitches to bind parts together, symbolic of a special bond. I also decided to create a border of puffy hearts, to represent the warmth from family of being surrounded by love.
I hope this square brings you joy and I look forward to seeing your Janey Squares.
