Both these pattern versions build on the new year blanket. The first is the most like the new year blanket and is tighter and smaller but the result is more angular. The second version is my favourite though. it still uses the new year blanket as the basis but the rows between starting new chevron are greater. It produces a larger more lightweight item. And uses less yarn per foot of worked pattern. Both versions use just under 2 cakes of mandala. I have used the Russian knot to join 2 cakes. If you use a smaller hook especially on the version 2 blanket you will obviously use more yarn. You could make version 2 bigger by following the principles of the first 2 chevrons.
A block colour would work equally as well and bring out the heart shapes in the design.
The pattern is named after a friends grandchild and I promised to produce a new pattern for Easter so I’ve put the 2 together.
This is an untested pattern so if there are any problems please let me know asap so that I can amend the pattern.
