This coffee mug cozy and hat will help keep your hot beverage warmer. The “hat” covers a plastic lid, such as a lid from a sour cream or yogurt container, and is easily removed for cleaning.

Requires only about 1 oz of worsted weight wool.

Please note that in the pattern, I specify a “make 1” (M1) increase. This was intended to be a left (or right) lifted increase, or other increase of your choice to create a stitch between stitches, such as is shown here.

Therefore, the increase round as written in the pattern will add a new stitch after every stitch, doubling the stitch count:

(increase rnd): * k1, m1; repeat from * around.

If you choose to use KFB (knit into the front and back of the stitch) as your increase method, you will need to change the increase round to this:

(increase rnd): kfb in every stitch around.

I apologize for any confusion I created by not being more specific about the type of increase.
