This pattern is a way to easily design your own Jayne Hat, using ANY yarn, and ANY needles, that you like! Just take a few measurements, and punch the numbers into the built-in calculator. You can even save a link to the custom calculations if you want to come back to it later.

There are only three steps required to customize your own hat pattern:

  1. Measure your head.
  2. Make a gauge swatch, with the needles and yarn you want to use, and measure it.
  3. Use the calculator! Jayne’s your guy when it comes to shootin things, but when it comes to the mathin, I’ll handle that.

I cannot guarantee that the yarn you choose will look good - but I can guarantee that if you do these things, it will come out the size you want it to. I recommend a worsted weight yarn, but really anything will suffice.

This can be scaled down to make a Jayne Hat for a baby, or even a doll or a pet - or scaled up for that guy you know who has a ridiculously enormous head (in my case, my husband.)
