Jeju sweater takes its name from Jeju Island in South Korea which turns entirely pink every spring because of the beautiful cherry blossom trees that cover large parts of the island. As the seasons change, however, so can your Jeju sweater: knit it up in two high contrast colours for a minimalist look or choose more muted colours with a low contrast for a dreamier look. You first work the back, then move on to the shoulders and the two front pieces, which are worked flat. Then you join the work to knit in the round using two colours. The colourwork is charted. Jeju sweater is designed as a short and boxy sweater with an oversized fit.

SIZE GUIDE
Circumference of finished sweater: 125 (137) 160 (172) 180 cm / 49 (54) 63 (67.7) 70.8’’
Approximate bust measurements (of your own body): 70-80 (80-100) 100-115 (115-130) 130-145 cm / 27.5-31.5 (31.5-39.3) 39.3-45 (45-51) 51-57’’
Note: Part of the circumference of the finished sweater will make up the top part of the sleeves, approx. 30 cm (15 on each side) – or 11.8’’ (6’’ on each side) – of the stated circumference. Therefore, please refer to your own measurements when choosing a size, also depending on your preferred positive ease.

The model in the photos measures 79 cm / 31’’ across the chest and is wearing a size 2 for a very oversized look.

YARN
Jeju sweater is worked with two strands held together throughout, Tvinni and Silk Mohair from Isager Yarn. The colourwork part of the pattern is thus worked holding four strands together.

Main colour (MC):
200 (250) 250 (300) 350 g Tvinni (100% wool, 255 m / 50 g) held with
125 (150) 175 (175) 200 g Silk mohair (75% super kid mohair and 25% silk)
Contrast colour (CC):
50 (50) 50 (50) 50 g Tvinni (100% wool, 255 m / 50 g) held with
25 (25) 25 (25) 50 g silk mohair (75% super kid mohair and 25% silk)
Tvinni can be replaced by Highland Wool from Isage Yarn. Just remember to check the yardage when calculating how much you need.
Note: The amount of yarn is always a suggestion as gauges and the springiness of different yarns may vary. Also note that a longer garment than the measurements noted above will require more yarn.

GAUGE
21 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4’’ on 4 mm / US 6 in stockinette after washing and blocking. We recommend that you wash your swatch before measuring.
Suggested needles
4 mm / US 6 circular needle (40, 60 and 80 cm / 16, 24 and 32’’)
3 mm / US 2.5 circular needle (40 and 80 cm / 16 and 32’’)
You may need to go up a half or a whole needle size for the colourwork as many knitters tend to knit more tightly when working with more than one colour.
