This capelet was designed for a good friend who loves pink and black. The pink and black multicolored Deep Dyed Yarns Align (80% superwash merino and 20% nylon), together with the soft sport weight black Cascade Longwood Sport yarn inspired this pattern. Deep Dyed Yarns are located in the Ravelry list of yarns but Deep Dyed Yarns Align is not mentioned.
Almost all of the 4 skeins of the Cascade Longwood were used in making the body of the capelet. About a half of the second skein of Deep Dyed Yarns Align remained after the trim was finished.

The shaped back and two fronts are knitted separately (each of which starts with a provisional cast on) and then joined at the shoulder with a three needle bind off to make a sturdy seam. Stitches for the lower trim are picked up around the bottom of the capelet. Then stitches are picked up along the center fronts and neck, so that a shawl collar can be fashioned using short rows.

Crochet cast on with waste yarn was used for the provisional cast on.

Short rows are an integral part of the construction of the capelet. The short rows are used in both the body stockinet stitch (I used German short rows) as well as trim garter stitch.
