Every crocheter needs to have a “go-to” basic hat pattern - and this is it! I wanted to design a hat pattern that I could use when I wanted to make a basic hat. I drafted a similar pattern a few times, but was never satisfied with the way my hats turned out. I would revise the design and was never happy.

But this is it - the perfect pattern. It’s so perfect, I’ve given it the name, “JJ’s Beanie”, that’s how certain I am of it. I scaled the design so you can make it for a baby, child, or adult. Hopefully it will bring you as much joy as it’s given me - spread the love!

Basic yarn (worsted weight), a basic crochet hook (size H), and a simple-enough-for-a-beginner pattern creates the perfect canvas for you to accessorize or leave as-is. Add a flower (instructions included in pattern) for a little girl or keep it basic for a guy.
