Inspired by the Hollyhocks amongst the cottage garden flowers at the front of the windmill in the village where I live, this cushion brings an extra touch of summer to your garden or home. The green spikes of buds against a sky blue background are complemented by the distinctive colourful flowers. It also features a granny square back and the cushion is adorned with tassels to finish it off perfectly.
This is an ideal project for warmer days when it is too hot to crochet larger items, and the finished cushion is perfect for using on garden furniture.
The pattern has detailed instructions, photographs and video links so it is suitable for advanced beginners. There is also a chart for the squares if written instructions aren’t your thing!
I used a premium acrylic DK yarn, but they look lovely in cotton yarn too. The pattern contains details of the yarn I used, but it is also a great stashbuster-the squares look lovely in different colours, and the flowers are a great way to use up scraps. Some of my testers used different colours for each round of the flowers which was very effective. If you are wanting the front squares to all be made in one colour you will need approximately 300m of that yarn, and around 200m of the colour you use for the spikes in the corners.
Patterns written in UK and US terms are included in this purchase.
