Ready to start stash-busting those advent-calendar yarn minis?

Make merry this Mathmas, and tiddle up your tree with some cool polyhedral baubles! Choose from 2 basic patterns, each available in 2 sizes, for a total of 4 different balls. Create your own unique colour scheme, and highlight your favourite aspects of these joyful geometric gems.

The balls are modular, made by knitting individual triangles and joining them using a flat version of the three-needle bind-off. There are photo tutorials of all techniques, as well as links to a full video tutorial on YouTube. The smallest ball needs only 5g of yarn, the largest 15g. Great for sock-yarn leftovers or mini skeins.

Extra materials: the pattern requires 12 safety pins (or other lockable stitch markers) around 5cm/2” long. These are to make the assembly process less frustrating. If using beads, a 0.6/0.75mm crochet hook is also needed (or superfloss).

More variations to come in a future pattern update – stay tuned!
