Jolly Snowman scarf
I have been playing with joining repeat motifs as you knit to make a more interesting scarf for adults & children. I started with chicks, then moved onto something more seasonal. It is a lot easier to do than you may think & you can decorate with whatever you fancy. You knit the bottoms of the snowmen separately, leave them on your circular needles, then join. You finish the heads one at a time, then hats, scarves, arms & carrot noses separately. You could easily make these into snow ladies with some eyelashes & hats with wider brims. The finished item is 48 inches long and 9-10 inches wide with 13 characters. Everything is knit in Garter stitch – knit each row
You will need:
The yarn is 80% Alpaca, so it is very warm. It is aran in weight& I purchased it from Temu because it is so cheap – any aran yarn will work perfectly well
White 350g
Black 280g
Orange approx 30g
Scarf is in James Brett Twinkle DK approx 40g
Buttons 8mm – you need 10 per snowman. Absolutely no reason why you annot just make French knots instead
Circular needle 36” cable minimum 3.75mm
Pair of 3mm long double ended needles, or long needles for the scarf – I find it easier to use DPNS.
