Josephine Shawl
• Gradient yarn cake, shown here in Daisy EpicART 4ply (2x 50/50 cotton acrylic+2x viscose).
• The original cake had a yardage of 1500 m and was shortened to approximately 1300 m.
• The sample shawl has a wingspan of approximately 160 cm.
• The pattern was also tested using a standard 3-ply yarn cake with a yardage of 1700 m, resulting in a wingspan of approximately 190 cm.
• The final yardage is entirely up to your preference.
• 2.2 mm crochet hook (I personally use smaller hooks than most crocheters, so choose the hook size you normally use with a 3-ply gradient yarn cake).
Josephine is an elegant triangular shawl featuring graceful fan motifs, delicate openwork, and beautiful post-stitch texture. The repeating stitch pattern creates a sophisticated design that looks intricate while remaining enjoyable to crochet, making it an excellent choice for showcasing long gradient colour transitions.
Worked from the centre top down, the shawl grows into a generous triangle and can easily be adapted to your preferred size by repeating the main pattern section. The combination of airy lace sections and textured relief stitches creates a stunning fabric with excellent drape and stitch definition.
