It’s been a long few years in the making, but the Journeyman Jumper is now available! This is jumper uses a subtle cable pattern on the front chest panel to provide a nice feature to the simplistic design. I designed this pattern to be an introduction to the world of cable jumpers and stick true to my simple yet trendy knitwear style.

The cable design is only illustrated as a chart, so you must have basic knowledge of chart reading. The pattern is written with Australian terms but there are size conversions in the pattern.

Model is 181cm (5’11) and wears size M.
The length is adjustable and instructions can be found within the pattern. The design is intended to be oversized with 20cm (8”) of positive ease. If you want a tighter fitting garment then look at the “finished size” as an indicator of which size to select.

I have used both Brooklyn Tweed Tones and Brooklyn Tween Shelter for two versions of this jumper. Both yarns are 100% wool that give a natural and rustic finish. Both yarns are a 10ply/worsted weight and knit using 4.5mm needles (US 7) so a perfect thickness for a nice easy project. The yarn is a light woollen spun yarn, so if you are using a different yarn you may need to order more than what the pattern recommends.

Please remember that if you can’t source the yarn that is recommended then try to find a yarn with a similar tension gauge. The tension gauge is the most important part when ensuring your completed jumper is the same as what you see in the pictures.

This garment is knit using stocking stitch and knit in panels from the bottom up. The panels are then sewn together to complete the garment. A variety of simple cable stitches are used to create the unique cable panel on the front of the chest. I tried to simplify the pattern as much as possible in order to make it an easy and enjoyable project. A schematics of the design is attached at the end of the pattern that shows the measurements of each part of the jumper.

The measurements are in metric measurements so remember when you are converting - 2.5cm is equivalent to 1 inch :)
