Wrap yourself in my airy “Joy” shawl. Named for our first child Joy, this shawl was designed to be a carefree and joyful knit. Joy is a top down circular shawl that ends with a simple, beginner friendly leaf motif. This shawl’s shape allows for it to sit nicely on the shoulders without slipping, no shawl pin needed! Using only one skein of your favorite sock yarn, “Joy” is a quick knit that is super modifiable. This pattern gives you the option for a full garter stitch shawl and a shawlette version in stockinette. Both make for a satisfying knit that will bring the wearer great joy.

I started to knit Joy the day after I learned that we lost our baby. I needed to knit something from my soul as my brain struggled to process my new reality. I miscarried a few weeks before Mother’s Day of 2018, and since then, I wanted to bring awareness to baby loss and advocate for more progressive ways for treating loss. Whether you or a friend has lossed, we all feel it, and talking about these feelings are key.

That’s why I chose to support the Share Organization, because of it’s fostering of a positive space for families to share their stories. If you wish to learn more about this organization, please visit my website, thedrunkknitter.com.
