From the pattern:
This garment is worked in one piece from side to side, beginning at the right side and ending at the left side. The selvedge at the beginning of RS rows is the front waist edge, and the selvedge at the end of RS rows is the back waist edge.

The V-neck is worked as a simple rectangular opening that widens into a V when worn. The waist shaping is worked using short-rows. The stockinette edges of the armhole and neck openings roll naturally to the RS to provide a self-finish.
