Jumbo Yarn Baby Nest
Crochet this easy jumbo yarn baby nest in just a few hours, perfect for beginners! Comes with instructions for felting your yarn, written instructions, and an easy to follow diagram.
Materials:
-HomeModa Studio Giant Bulky Merino Yarn (from Amazon), 4.4 lbs/ 100 yards in Blush Pink. (Used a total of 65-75 yards).
- Yarn Weight- 1 wrap per inch, when squished, easily 1 wrap per 1.5 inches
-Instead of above, any jumbo weight yarn or roving, using about 65 yards will do. If ordering by the yard from another seller, order at least 75 yards so that you’re not cutting yourself short!
-Spray bottle and water
-Dryer
Gauge:
5 stitches and 2 rows - 13” by 5”
Finished Size:
Length- 30”, Width- 22”, Height- 7”
Abbreviations:
Ch- chain
SC- single crochet
ST- stitch
This pattern is crocheted using your hands/fingers and is worked continuously in the round, without chaining before each new row.
I recommend felting the wool roving before use, without doing so you will notice how delicate the yarn is… probably not the most practical for an infant. Felting will make your yarn more durable. You may find it helpful to first crochet the pattern to gauge how much of the yarn you need… the entire 100 yards wouldn’t have fit in my dryer to felt the yarn.
Obviously, do not leave infant unattended in baby nest and user assumes all risk by making and using this pattern.
