The June Ribbon Scarf is a beginner-friendly mini scarf knit from tip to tip in stockinette stitch with yarn-overs to create the loop detail on the edges.

You can use any yarn you have on hand to knit this scarf! The details below correspond to the yarn used in the sample. To adapt the pattern to a different yarn, note the recommended gauge for your yarn and pick a needle size that will give you the appropriate gauge for your yarn.

The sample is knit in Sandnes Garn Tykk Line, a worsted-weight cotton-linen blend yarn.

Sample length from tip to tip: 38”/ 96.5 cm

Width at center: 2.5”/ 6 cm

Sample Gauge: 4 stitches per 1”/ 16 stitches per 4” on 5 mm/ US 8 needle

Sample Needles: 5 mm US8 / 60 cm 24 inches circular needle (straight needles are fine, too)

Pick a needle size that is best for your chosen yarn. Look at the needle size recommended on the yarn label if you are unsure.*

Sample Materials: 1 ball of Sandnes Garn Tykk Line (1 ball = 50 g = 59 m 65 yds) in the color Spicy Orange

Pick any yarn, just note that your scarf will look different than the sample if you use a different fiber and yarn weight.*

Tips for using up your yarn:
Because no decreases occur until the last 2.5”/ 6 cm of the scarf, knit until desired length or until you have enough yarn left for 2.5” of knitting.

To figure this out, weigh your work after finishing the increases section at the beginning of the pattern. Knit until you have the same grams left of yarn as the beginning section of your scarf weighed. For example, if the beginning (increase) section of your scarf weighs 10 g, knit until you have about 10 g of yarn left.
