“We are the Junimos… Keepers of the forest.”

Junimos are little forest spirits you encounter in the game Stardew Valley, and they hustle you for quest items in effort to rehab the dilapidated community center in the main character’s new home of Pelican Town.

I have always been drawn to traditional fair isle sweater patterns. I had the thought that it might be super cute to sneak some tiny little Junimos into a traditional design, and I just couldn’t shake it. And thus, the Junimo Fair Isle hat was born (after about 4000 iterations over the course of a year). Many of the motifs I used are as old as knitting itself, so this pattern is very much an homage to both new and old, screen time hobbies and creative ones, and so on. I’ve even included an optional arms up variation if you prefer, or wish to alternate for dancing Junimos. Fun!!

You’ll need two colors of DK weight yarn. You’ll need approximately 100-115 yards of your main color and 35-40 yards of your contrasting color (more if you plan to make a pom pom).

This hat is knit from the bottom up beginning with the brim.
