One of my favorite knitting classes to teach is children’s sweaters. And for years I would teach the Wonderfull Wallaby sweater by Cottage Creations. The pattern was quite long and and people found it confusing to follow. Over the years many of you have requested that I write a child’s hoodie that is knit in the round from the top-down (instead of bottom-up, like so many other patterns). One of the few good things about the lockdown is I was able to take the time to write this pattern that so many have requested.

The sweater is knit from the top down, in the round, with a fun way to add a pocket (without using a crochet hook… nothing against you crocheters). After the body of the sweater is knit an optional hood is picked up and knit at the end.

This pattern is written for child’s sizes 2-12 and is broken out into clear sections with online video tutorials (by yours truly) for those tricky spots. It’s like you are still in class and I never left your side.

One of the best parts about the Just a Little Hoodie pattern is how easy you can tweak it and make it your own. So I included a Modifications Notes page that is meant to be an ever growing list of modifications that people have submitted in how they modified their hoodie. If you tweaked the pattern and want to share or have an idea on how you want to make this pattern your own please email me at whitney@JustaLittleLoopy.com

I could not be more proud of this entire project. I set out to create a fun pattern that you can knit with confidence and that felt like you were in one of my classes with online pattern support if you get stuck, and I think I finally got it!
