A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms. -- Zen Shin

Aren’t flowers amazing? They bloom where they are planted and bloom to their fullest potential without worrying about what is growing next to them.

This simple scarf design blooms as you crochet through the rows, producing a pretty petal edging on the bottom edge. The edging on the top edge is added once you crochet through the rows. Just Bloom is a simple one-skein scarf project that is crocheted from side to side with an easy-to-memorize stitch pattern.

Using just one skein of fingering weight yarn that is at least 420 yards, you can make a full-sized scarf that is very easy to wear.

I used one skein of my favorite single-ply fingering weight yarn, Malabrigo Mechita (420 yards/100 grams), in the color “Jupiter” for this design.

So, take that yarn stash dive and find that beautiful single skein of fingering weight yarn that you have been saving and enjoy this fun, quick project that is also very easy to wear and great for gifting. Make it with a cozy wool for the Winter, and then a cool cotton or linen yarn for the warmer months. Sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty of simple stitches and watch your scarf bloom!

Skills needed: chain, double crochet, slip stitch, dc2tog, dc3tog
