The Just Peachy Pinafore is a fun and summery design that can be worn alone or layered over a onesie or t-shirt even on warm days. It contains a textured peach motif along the bottom hem and the top of the front panel and features picots and ruffles in a contrasting color. I designed this piece for my daughter, Georgia, as she is sweet as a peach! This pinafore is constructed by joining as you go and the instructions allow for customization. My sample is made with beautiful hand-dyed DK weight cotton yarn to give a lovely drape and breathability, though any DK weight yarn will hold up well for this pattern. The Just Peachy Pinafore can be worn to church or a summer wedding or can be played in by a rambunctious little one. This pattern uses US terminology.
This pattern is sized 3 months-16 Juniors, or waist circumference of 18”-27.5”. The pinafore is designed with 1/2-1” of negative ease. Yardage estimates are as follows: DK weight yarn, approximately 200 (250, 300, 350, 350)(400, 450, 550, 600)(700, 800, 900) yards in main color and 50 (65, 80, 90, 100)(110, 120, 130, 140)(150, 160, 170) yards in contrasting color of DK weight yarn for sizes 3 mo (6 mo, 12 mo, 18 mo, 24 mo)(4, 6, 8, 10)(12, 14, 16) respectively. Actual yardage depends on gauge, hook and yarn choice, and whether the pattern is completed exactly as written. Estimates are included for reference as a suggestion only.
There is a video tutorial on my YouTube channel showing how to make the “leaf” and “peach” stitches here: https://youtu.be/lf7U70mmqA0. There is also a photo tutorial within the pattern.
Pattern is written for contrast color (CC) to be used only for ruffles and edging; more CC is needed if substituting for the peaches and leaves.
There is a YouTube tutorial linked in the pattern for how to create the peach and leaf stitches, as well as a photo tutorial.
