You are going to need a Thick yarn and a Thin yarn for this Scarf. I call this Scarf “Just Roll With It, Baby” because it does have a tendency to roll in at the edges, but I do not consider this a design flaw, since skinny scarves are less bulky around the neck and can be woven in cool ways around the neck without suffocating you. So knit it and “Just Roll With It, Baby”! My favorite way to wear it is a Four-in-Hand. http://www.scarves.net/how-to-tie-a-scarf/four-in-hand.htm

For the Thick yarn:
Any ribbon, bulky, odd novelty yarn will work. You will only use this yarn every 7 rows and it will be carried up the side of the Thin yarn sections, until it is needed again. I have used Lion Brand Incredible, Bernat Colorama, Knit One Crochet Two Tartelette. I have to admit to liking the Colorama the best. It really pops and only uses one ball!
For the thin yarn:
You have endless options. I have used 2 strands of lace weight held together, one strand of sock weight, 2 strands of sock weight rayon yarn. You can use a mohair or mohair blend. Just go dig through your stash and have fun using up odd balls of sock yarn and novelty yarn that we all tend to have in our stashes.
On any Thin yarn that you hold doubled, you will need twice the amount called for below.

MATERIALS
Thin Yarn about 225 yards
Thick Yarn about 45 yards
US#11 or 13 circular needle, Circular needle is absolutely necessary!
Gauge: This pattern calls for a size 11 or 13 needle. Use a size that is comfortable with the thin yarn. If I used sock weight yarn, I used the size 11. If I used the 2 strands of sock weight rayon, I used the size 13. Just Roll With it! On the size 13 needle, my gauge was about 3 to 3 1/2 sts to the inch and 7 rows of the Scarf measured 2 1/2”. If you are a tight knitter, go up a needle size. If you are a loose knitter, go down a needle size. Width of your scarf is not as important as the length. You want it to be at least 84” long, so that it can be worn in all those luscious ways that people wear skinny scarves, so “Just Roll With It, Baby”!
