Kahlo Currents was inspired by the bold colours of Frida Kahlo, the spring landscape by the sea and the tidal currents of the Wadden Sea. But also, by the woman I made them for: full of inner strength, deeply connected to nature, gentle and spiritual. Pair 91 of my project: designing and knitting 100 pairs of Fair Isle socks.

Sock yarn 4 ply:
Main colour, soft pink: 28 - 32 grams / 118 – 135 m. / 130 – 148 yds.
Contrasting colour, pink: 28 – 32 grams / 118 – 135 m. / 130 – 148 yds.
Contrasting colour, green: 14 grams / 58 m. / 64 yds.
Contrasting colour, yellow: 12 grams / 51 m. / 56 yds.
Knitting needles: 2.5 mm & 3 mm.
Darning needle, scissors, two markers, possibly a crochet hook to pick up stitches for the gusset.
Size: EUR 38/39/40/41/42/43/ UK 5/6/6,5/7, 5/8/9 US 7/8/9/10/11/12.
Gauge:
Stockinette stitch 10 x 10 cm = 24 stitches x 32 rows, needle 2.5 mm.
Colour work: 10 x 10 cm = 34 stitches x 30 rows, needle 3 mm.
Adjust needle size and yarn depending on how tightly or loosely you knit.
Pattern: The pattern starts with the cuff, 64 stitches on 2.5 mm needles, increases to 72 stitches after the cuff and 3 mm. needles, and ends with the toe on 2.5 mm needles.
Size: EUR 38/39/40/41/42/43/ UK 5/6/6,5/7,5/8/9 US 7/8/9/10/11/12.

Kahlo Currents ontwerp werd geïnspireerd door de krachtige kleuren van Frida Kahlo, het lentelandschap aan zee en de stromingen van het Wad. Maar ook door de vrouw voor wie ik ze breide: vol innerlijke kracht, verbonden met de natuur, zacht én spiritueel. Dit was het 91e paar van mijn project waarin ik 100 paar Fairisle sokken ontwierp en breide.

Sokkengaren 4 ply, in gram:
Achtergrondkleur, licht roze: 28 – 32.
Contrastkleur roze: 28 - 32.
Contrastkleur groen: 14.
Contrastkleur geel: 12.
Breinaalden: 2,5 mm. & 3 mm.
Wolnaald, schaar, 2 markers, eventueel haaknaald om de steken van de spie op te nemen.
Patroon:
Het patroon start met de boord, 64 steken op naald 2,5 mm. en vermeerdert na de boord naar 72 steken en naald 3, eindigd met de teen op naald 2,5 mm.

Maat:

Tricotsteek 10 x 10 cm. = 24 steken x 32 toeren breinaald 2,5 mm. Motief: 10 x 10 cm. = 34 steken x 28 toeren breinaald 3 mm.
