Construction
The Kamakura Cardigan is worked top down in flat and circular knitting, with 5 mm needles and holding 2 strands. You will start by shaping the top of the back with increases on each end, and then you will work the back until you reach the underarms. You will pick up stitches along the cast on edge to work each shoulder separately, with increases along the front edge. Once you reach the underarms, you will join the fronts to the back, and you will cast on stitches for the underarms. The bottom of the body is worked flat in stockinette stitch, and the edge is worked in 1x1 rib stitch. For the sleeves, you will start by picking up stitches along the armholes, then you will work in the round with the Magic Loop technique in stockinette stitch, with decreases to shape the sleeves. The wrists are worked in garter and 1x1 rib bands stitch, with 4 mm needles. Finally, you will pick up stitches along the edge with the 5 mm needles and you will knit the button band in garter and 1x1 rib bands stitch, with 5 buttonholes.

Pattern content
At the end of the pattern, you will find a standard checklist. You can print this page to check the boxes as you go, and keep track of your progress.

Shape and sizes
Sizes S (M - L - XL - 2XL - 3XL) are suited for an approximate bust circumference of 85/90 (90/95 - 95/110 - 110/120 - 120/130 - 130/140) cm. Make sure to take your measurements in order to choose the size that will fit you best. The Kamakura Cardigan is meant to be worn with a very comfortable ease, slightly oversize. It is rather long, stops under the hips, and the sleeves are quite long too. You may add or remove some length before the rib edges to adjust the body and the sleeve length to your convenience.
