ABOUT THE OM DESIGN:
KAREN MITTENS go together with KAREN HOOD, my contribution to the Isager Archives 2 collection. The main feature of the mittens are the zigzag stripes creating a V-shape towards the fingers.
They are worked from the ribbing towards the fingers. The ribbing is worked first, and then the mittens are worked in the round with increases and decreases creating the zigzag pattern. At the same time, the contrast stripes are knitted. The thumb placement is marked with waste yarn after the first zigzag stripe. The thumb is knitted on last.

SIZES:
Onesize

MEASUREMENTS:
Width (across the hand of the mitten): 10 cm
Hight (from the top of the ribbing to the tip): 25 cm
Length from the thumb (1st zigzag stripe) to the top of the mitten: 13 cm

MATERIALS:
Note: If you have bought yarn for the Karen Hood, you don’t have to buy any additional yarn for the mittens. The leftovers from the hood will be enough.

Main color: 50 g Soft from Isager Yarn (1 strand) (50 g = 125 m) held together with
25 g Silk Mohair from Isager Yarn (1 strand) (25 g = 212 m)
Pattern color A: 50 g Trio 1 from Isager Yarn (2 stands) (50 g = 350 m) held together with
50 g Highland Wool (or Alpaca 2) from Isager Yarn (2 stands) (50 g = 275 m)
Pattern color B: 50 g Boucle from Isager Yarn (2 stands) (50 g = 175 m)

(The actual yarn amounts for a set of mittens are: 25-30 g Soft, 8-10 g Silk Mohair, 8-10 g Highland Wool, 6-8 g Trio 1 and 6-8 g Boucle).

GAUGE 10x10 cm:
16 sts x 23 rnds in stockinette st on 6 mm needles using 2 strands of yarn.

RECOMMENDED NEEDLES:
Circular needles 4 mm (80 cm) – or double pointed needles 4 mm.
Circular needles 5 mm (80 cm) – or double pointed needles 5 mm.
Circular needles 6 mm (80 cm) – or double pointed needles 6 mm.

This beige/red version is knitted in following colors:
