Karmel means ,,caramel” in Polish. This hat reminds me of sweet caramel apples which are a typical treat during the fall season. The hat is seamless and worked in the round from the bottom up. The crown shaping is achieved organically by decreasing in lace pattern. The crown is topped by a short i- cord which completes the hat. It comes in three sizes- toddler, child and adult. DK weight makes it a very handy knit in transitional weather. Be ready for the first chill!

Sizes:
S (M, L)
S - Toddler, for 18-19”/ 45- 47cm HC
M - Child, for 19-21.6”/ 48- 55cm HC
L- Adult, to fit 21.2- 22.8”/ 54- 58cm HC

Materials:
• Yarn: Approx. 100 (115, 150) yds / 90 (105,135) m of Merino DK yarn with good stitch definition, e.g.: Madelintosh Merino DK, Eden Cottage Bowland DK, Leizu DK Julie Asselin, Lilou DK Twist or yarn that knits up to the gauge. Sample was knit using Madelintosh Merino DK in Oak.
• Needles and other notions: US 2½ (3.0mm) – for tubular CO, US 4 (3.5mm), US 6 (4.0mm) or size to obtain gauge circular needles, stitch marker, needle to weave in ends.

Gauge: 22 Stitches and 28 rows per 4 inches/ 10 cm after blocking with US 6 (4.0 mm) needles in Stockinette Stitch.

Skills required: Knitting and purling, knitting through back loop, increases and decreases, yarn overs, tubular cast on.
