The Kartoffel mittens are the ultimate potato chip knitting. The mittens knit up really fast due to the aran weight yarn and the pattern is easy to memorize which makes it perfect for newer knitters. The contrasting pompoms add some fun and a bit of color. The garter fabric of the mittens is comfortable but not too bulky to go about your day wearing the mittens.

The mittens can be knit in two sizes:
Small: hand circumference of 7 inches.
Large: hand circumference of 8 inches

Gauge for the mittens is 4 stitches per inch and 4 rows per inch in garter stitch.

Materials:
• 100 meters (110 yards) of aran weight yarn.
• Contrasting yarn to make 4 pompoms and 2 12 inch lengths of the same yarn.
• 5.5 mm (US 9) double pointed or circular needles.
• Waste yarn.
• Tapestry needle.
• Small pompom maker.

The sample is a size small and was knit in Zeeman Tweed (163 meters/178 yards per 100 grams) in color 01 beige. Sample used 56 grams and 92 meters (100 yards). Tiger garn in the aran weight in mustard yellow was used for the pompoms.

The pattern is written.
