Katiebird Beanie
This pattern was inspired by and designed for my dear friend Katie. Katiebird is her childhood nickname, and I thought it was the perfect name for this design. Katie is colorful and fun and loves to laugh, so I wanted to design her a whimsical hat that will go with everything! She loved the idea of puff stitches, so I turned them into feather-like sections inspired by her nickname.
Basic Information:
Pattern is written in US crochet terms.
Yarn: DK weight (CYC weight 3). Approximately 150-225 yards. I used approximately 180 yards of Yarn Lady and Co DK (100% merino, 245 yards/100g) yarn in the color Oilslick. Tester yardages varied widely within each size, so I would recommend having a little extra on hand.
Hook: 4.5 mm, or size needed to meet gauge.
Finished size: Baby: 13” circumference, Toddler: 15” circumference, Child: 17” circumference, Adult: 19” circumference. Measurements are without stretch.
Gauge: Before blocking, 11.5 rows of hdc blo ribbing = 4” long.
