This is Kat’s Runic Shawl. It was designed in honor of my friend Kat, who has always been incredibly supportive. She’s Greek and she told me the lace bit reminded her of Greek Runes, and that’s how the name for this gorgeous shawl was born!

This shawl is knit on the bias, creating an asymmetrical triangle shawl. The design consists of a checkerboard texture section made with a combination of the hurdle and double seed stitches, a lace section, and garter stitch.

The shawl alternates between 3 colors to create a flowing garment.

I used Lion Brand Cobblestone yarn to create my sample shawl. This yarn is a medium weight 4 aran/worsted weight yarn. This yarn is now discontinued, but if you can get your hands on it, it is worth using because it creates a gorgeous heathered effect. However, this shawl looks gorgeous in any weight 4 yarn.

Thank you to my testers:
