the nippy air has arrived with fall, but it’s not really cold yet. as i switch from flip-flops to clogs, my toes put up a little fuss.

these clog socks are meant to cradle toes in cushy softness (they’re two layers thick) to ease the transition from fresh air living (flip-flops) to the more confined indoor life of toes this time of the year.

(no need to ‘jump the gun’ and encase the heels in socks before it’s really cold and maybe even snowy. don’t want to listen to them squawk any sooner than i have to.)

these are knit toe-up and toe-down and all in one piece in the round. you’ll need to use kitchener stitch or some other grafting method on the last 10 sts of the outside layer, otherwise there’s no sewing up required. i’ve included directions that explain how to make these in any size from child to adult male. the ones in the photo are shown on a women’s sz 7 1/2 foot.

good for using up leftover sock yarn if you knit the inside layer in one color and the outside layer in another (you’ll need about 105 yds of each). and i’m sure there are countless stitch patterns that could be used on the outside layer.
