When viewed from the side, these socks reminded me of the winged sandals worn by Hermes, god of the herds, markets, athletics, and heraldry. The ancient Greeks liked to give their gods a lot of titles, and Hermes was no exception. Here are just a few of the titles given to him by his cult:

  • Keeper of the Flocks
  • Ram Bearer
  • Of the Market Place
  • Of Crafts
  • Three-Headed
  • Of the Games
  • Champion
  • Interpreter
