I was inspired by the Palestinian keffiyeh motifs to
design this hat pattern. All proceeds will go to my
friend Besan and their family in Gaza who are
struggling to survive through over 2 years of
genocide and a lifetime of occupation. You can
donate directly to their gofundme campaign:

The pattern is knit from the bottom up starting with a provisional cast on. After knitting through 2 colorwork charts, the brim is folded and joined and the hat finishes with a different rhythmic colorwork motif that is then decreased at the crown. The colorwork motifs of olive leaf, trade route and fishing net are inspired by the Palestinian keffiyeh.

This hat will knit up very well in different colors, as long as they have high contrast. The depth of the hat is easily customizable. And more sizes are easily made by omitting the colorwork on the inner brim and casting on a smaller (multiple of 20) number of stitches to start.
