Shawl-collar cardigans are about the most knitterly sweaters around. This one features 2x2 ribbing, a thick buttonband, and an utterly gorgeous wool. Bonus: the pattern will be created to your own unique gauge and your choice of size.

Ketch is part of the Summer/Fall 2015 CustomFit Basics collection: twice-yearly collections of the classics of our time. Those fundamental, wear-every-day sweaters we can’t wait to throw on. Ready for you to interpret – in your own materials, for your own wardrobe.

Jackie is wearing Ketch in a relaxed fit, but it looks great in an average fit too.

That said, Masham is the perfect yarn for this sweater: It’s warm, it’s beautifully marled, and it adds lovely interest to this basic wardrobe staple. Amy loved it at 4.5 stitches to the inch.

One more note on yardage – while I’ve given approximate quantities for standard size sweaters, CustomFit will make your pattern in the size and gauge of your choice. And it’s pretty tough to give yardage requirements for any possible combination! If you’re not using the recommended yarn, and/or you’re not a standard size, I recommend Hannah Fettig’s amazing app, stashbot, to get a sense of your yardage requirements.
