My goal for this year, in regard to my knitting, was to use up as much of my stash as possible. I’d knitted up quite a few asymmetric shawls, and wanted to design one that was an elongated diamond shape. I rummaged through my stash and grabbed colors that reminded me of the Kettle Moraine forest, with a little dash of “snow” to cap things off. This is a highly textured shawl. The alternating garter and stockinette rows are inspired by Horst Schulz’s mitered squares, and the lace sections are inspired by the forest itself. You can knit this shawl in whatever colors inspire you. It lends itself well to both solid and variegated colorways, and can be knit up in a single color, or in as many colors as you like.
