The Kihnu blanket pattern is the seventh pattern in the collection, inspired by a rich heritage of Estonian knitwear. The design draws inspiration from traditional stranded colourwork mittens crafted on Kihnu Island, and it is creatively “translated” into mosaic knitting.

The other blanket patterns in the series released to date are the Urvaste, the Peetri , the Tartu, the Hanila, the ViruNigula and the Karja.

The blanket is worked in a mosaic garter stitch, in one piece with vikkel / travelling stitch panels in a single colour incorporated.
The pattern is charted and written out.
The beauty of mosaic knitting is that it only uses one of the yarns at a time, while the other waits at the beginning of the round. All you need to know is how to knit and slip stitches to create an intricate pattern.
