The original cowl is knitted in handspun, and the sample is in Jamison and Smith’s 2 ply Supreme, a standard lace weight. It will also work in the thinner sock yarns, but make sure there are no abrupt colour changes as they will take away from the beauty of the stitch pattern. Make sure you cast on and off loosely so that the scallops can form – using a needle 3 sizes larger is a good idea.
