I recently acquired a Amazon Kindle and wanted to create a protective sleeve for it. While this may not be quite as tough as leather or silicone, it works for me. I am posting the pattern here just in case someone else wants to create something warm and personal for their Kindle.

This pattern was originally written for the Kindle II but changes have been included for the newer, larger Kindle DX.

For me, this pattern works easiest using a magic loop technique. The pattern can be adapted to double pointed but if you wish to learn magic loop, you can see a video here.

Optional: Use feltable wool and carefully felt. The last two photos show the Kindle felted. Just don’t felt too much and it will still fit the Kindle but will not be so stretchy. I took a book the same size as the Kindle; put in in a plastic bag; and left it in until mostly dry.
