Kindred Souls is the second design in the Love is like friendship caught on fire series, shawls inspired by phases of love.

This unusual design begins with a triangular shape and develops into a crescent. It uses a decorative spine, and the edging features a beautiful lace pattern created by Naomi Parkhurst of Gannet Designs and has the word ‘friendship’ encoded into the lace.

The stockinette section can be extended to any size, and after a transition, the edging can also be repeated to your heart’s content.

Beads can be added to the lace, and the pattern includes an option for a lighter spine.

The pattern is both charted and written in full.

Adaptable a variety of yarn weights from lace to DK.

Pattern rows are worked on the RS only. The lace requires a little attention, but is not seriously difficult. It uses mini cables (two stitches knit out of sequence - can be worked without a cable needle), and some consecutive yarn overs so it’s probably not tv knitting unless you’re watching Cricket, Baseball, or possibly Days of our Lives..

My typically waffley notes can be found here.
