Return to Swinging London in the 1960s with a big, bold, befringed cowl. Bulky yarn knits up superfast, and the bright colors will liven up any outfit. Leave the fringe uncut, as shown here, or cut the loops open.

Difficulty Easy

Finished Size 10” wide and 22 (44)“ circumference. Cowl shown measures 44”.

Yarn Malabrigo Mecha (100% superwash merino wool): #874 paysandu, 2 (3) skeins.

Needles Size 10 (6 mm): straight. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Waste yarn for provisional CO; spare size 10 needle for three-needle BO; tapestry needle.

Gauge 16 sts and 26 rows = 4” in rib patt.

Notes This cowl is worked back and forth in one piece, beginning with a provisional cast-on. The two short ends are joined using the three-needle bind-off.
