When substituting yarn, consider the effects of the fiber type and yarn construction on the textured fabric. Mountain Mohair is a woolen spun, 3-strand, single ply yarn consisting of 40% Fine Western Wool (Targhee); 30% Medium Wool sourced from Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts; and 30% Fine Mohair sourced from Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Vermont. It has approximately 140 yards in 2 ounces (128 meters in 57 grams).

The sweater begins with a brief section of flat knitting (in lieu of short rows) until it is joined at the front neck and knit in the round. Instructions include charts, written instructions, links to video tutorials, a tracking table for compound raglan shaping, and a customizable tracking table for sleeve decreases.

Gauge: 17 sts x 32 R (body) and x 30 R (sleeve) in pattern (Slip Stitch Bands) and 17 sts x 36 R in Seeded Rib in 4” (10 cm) squared, after blocking. NOTE: Pattern gauge is prone to tightening on sleeves, especially if using small circumference needles. Guidance in pattern includes suggesting going up 1 to 2 needle sizes for sleeves if needed.

Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4) (5, 6, 7) (8, 9, 10, 11) For a standard fit, suggested positive ease at full chest, 4–6” (10–15 cm); at upper arms, 0–2” (0–5 cm). For an oversized fit, positive ease up to 10” (25.5 cm) at full chest.

Approximately 10% buffer included for swatching and gauge variations.

In recommended yarn, the number of skeins needed is:
MC: 6 (7, 8, 8) (9, 10, 11) (11, 12, 13, 13) skeins
Note: Size 8 uses exactly 11 skeins. Purchase 12 skeins if preferred.
CC1, CC2 and CC3: 1 skein of each color for Sizes 1–6; 2 skeins of each color for Sizes 7–11.
