KIRKHILL
KIRKHILL - a spacious and becoming cardigan; an indispensable garment for everyday use. The cardigan here is with a zip fastener in Shetland wool for women and men. The cardigan can have pockets and/or buttons - everything is included in the pattern. The rib pattern is 2/2 rib. Super fit. Worked flat on circular needle due to the number of stitches. Accurate written pattern.
I recommend to sew in the zip fastener by hand - and not by machine as on the photo.
Required skill level from 1 (basic) to 5 (advanced): 3.
The measurements given throughout the pattern are all in cm as well as inches.
Sizes included in the pattern: small - medium - large - xlarge - 2xlarge
Measurements of the garment:
Bust/chest: 96 cm - 104 cm - 115 cm - 126 cm - 138 cm (in: 37.75 - 41 - 45.25 - 49.5 - 54.25)
Length: 58 cm - 60 cm - 62 cm - 64 cm - 66 cm (in: 22.75 - 23.5 - 24.5 - 25.25 - 26)
For the men’s model the length is 6 cm (2.25 in) longer.
Yarn: this design applies for a 4ply Jumper Weight wool, 50 g = ca. 182 meters. To use 400 - 450 - 500 - 550 - 650 g. For the gents the cardigan takes 100 g more wool each size.
The original model was made in Shetland Supreme Jumper Weight, 100 % undyed wool from Jamieson and Smith, Lerwick, Shetland Isles. I stock the yarn.
The model is availble as a knitting kit in the yarn mentioned above - please look here.
Needles: and circular needles (or double pointed) no 2.5 mm and 3 mm.
