Hanging mistletoe in our hallway by the front door is a favourite part of the Christmas preparations each year, reminding me of loved ones coming to visit and welcoming them there with a kiss.
Mistletoe is so pretty with its curling oval leaves and pearly white berries and I think it’s often overlooked as a festive symbol in favour of brighter, spikier holly sprays, so I wanted to feature it in my mosaic panel as a symbol of winter and Christmas celebrations.
I have to say I enjoyed the way the slender branches and leaf and berry clusters provide a good mix of frequent colour change rows and infrequent ones as you work through this design. I also introduced a few small asymmetrical elements to the design to keep its appearance organic if repeated and I hope you’ll enjoy it too.
