As delicate as a baby’s kiss, this sweater/jumper will complement any little one’s wardrobe. The yoke has a subtle pattern of Xs and Os (hugs and kisses) that rise gently out of the stocking stitch background. It also features side slits, garter stitch bands, A-line shaping and a generous neckline for fitting easily over baby’s head.

Instructions for Kissy Hugs are given in both top-down and bottom-up forms, so the knitter can choose which way to knit the garment. The smaller three sizes use just one skein of fingering yarn, making the pattern a great way to put a ball of sock yarn to use. The featured garment is knitted in a gradient yarn, but the pattern is suitable for solid, semi-solid or variegated yarn. Instructions for five sizes are included (newborn - 3 months, 3 – 6 months, 6 – 12 months, 12 – 18 months and 18 months – 2 years).

The pattern is fully written out but a chart is also given for the cable panel, should that be preferred. A schematic diagram is also included. Detailed explanations are given for cables, increase and decrease stitches, making it suitable for a competent beginner knitter just learning to cable.
