Kitten Mittens
I’ve played around a lot with this pattern to try to get the best outcome for the face and size. I like a slouchy effect on my mittens so I’ve added a bit of length to the body but if that’s not your style, just do less st-st rows before getting to the thumb!
I also happen to be the worlds WORST embroiderer, I seem to manage to always make a complete mess so I tried to add as little embroidery to the pattern as possible by working the nose in with the knitting, this has resulted in the sewn in pink ends being sliiightly visible as I chose white for the face. This doesn’t really bother me but if you’re a perfectionist I’d suggest using a darker colour for the face or a lighter pink for the nose…or you could embroider a nose on, it’s your’s to have fun with! Sidenote - I almost broke down in tears trying to embroider a French Knot for the eyes as it just wasn’t staying in a knot for me, if you find yourself struggling…persevere! It will eventually happen!
This is a one size pattern. I would say my hands are medium to a tiny bit large for an adult woman and the mitts fit fine. I would suggest working with slightly bigger or smaller needles to adjust mitten size.
As for yarn, I used The Wool Shop’s own hand-dyed sock wool - Knitted Borders Pokey, colourways Amy and Dolly and scrap 4PLY for facial features. Any 4PLY with a similar gauge should work fine though!
