This is a fun crochet beanie that looks like a medieval Knights helmet. it is simple enough for beginners to make and is a quick and easy project. The helmet is also large enough to fit over a Men’s baseball cap. The back of the helmet is long enough to cover the back of your neck and keep it warm on cold winter days. This pattern is big enough to fit an average Man’s head but to make it bigger just add a extra round of increases to the hat.
The pattern calls for two colors of yarn. the main color needs approximately 300 yards and the contrasting color needs about 100 yards. If you add in a different color for a contrasting ridge it will probably just need about 50 yards or less.
A Note about gauge: In the pattern, I give two gauge swatches. The swatch for the larger guage should be a looser fabric that the smaller hook.
