Sketchbook Pattern: Hybrid Knit/Crochet Dice Bags

This is a highly adaptable recipe for making small, drawstring bags using a combination of simple crochet and simple knitting techniques. Multiple options and comments are given for potential variations. I found out that a crochet base makes the bag stand up really nicely, and picking up the edge stitches to knit the body of the bag is very straightforward. The density of the crochet makes the bags sturdy, while the less-dense knit fabric makes the overall object softer and less stiff. Great for dice, and any other small trinkets.

What is a Sketchbook Pattern?
“Sketchbook patterns” come from original projects that I like and want to share, but aren’t sure if I’ll ever be able to thoroughly test and perfectly map out. These patterns are basically just a slightly-more-polished version of my own notes on the projects. As such, they are NOT tech-edited, and also less detailed: in many cases, they’re more like row-by-row or section-by-section descriptions, NOT stitch-by-stitch instructions. They may absolutely contain errors, and often will be annotated with my own notes about possible variations and other comments. Some sketchbook patterns may still have a small price tag if it still took me significant effort to develop and write up, but many of them will be free.
