Inspired by traditional Norwegian gnomes/elves (Nisse) this pattern aims to bring some Winter Scandinavian spirit to your wardrobe.

The pattern is made using the knit stitch (waistcoat stitch) to create a knit-look with your crochet hook, which allows for more intricate colour work.

The pattern includes guides and charts for childs, small adult, medium adult and large adult sizes. It is possible to customize the pattern to your desired size – and information is included in how to adjust the pattern.

To allow for working into the posts of the stitch (that can become quite tight), the pattern uses an over-sized hook – 5.5mm – for the main body of the hat. For comparison, the ribbed band uses only a 4mm hook.

•Aran weight yarn in 4 colours – cream, grey, red and scraps of pink to make as pictured
