Knit Your Cat Pillow is designed for you to be able to pick yarns and colors similar to your cat and use those yarns to add personalizations to the pillow front. One of my test knitters, made a nice memorial pillow for a cat that recently passed away. I suggest having a high quality photograph handy if you wish to embroider unique facial markings. Shown in DK weight angora (cost was about $65 but I had enough yarn for 2 pillows). For a cheaper yarn that is still fuzzy, I stranded sock weight wool with lace weight mohair. Pillow is worked in 7 pieces (front, back, 2 front ears, 2 back ears, and edging) and sewn together at the end. The angora and mohair yarns are very forgiving to cover the finishing threads. Pillow size is approximately 10 by 10 inches. To save a few dollars, I used stranded silk sock yarn for the back, saving the angora for the front and edging.

The bottom two-thirds of the face is done with 3 balls (or large bobbins) of yarn in color-work. The rest of the pieces (edging, back and ears) are done by stranding, so not bobbins. As there are multiple colors of yarn involved, I refer to them in the pattern by color (gray, white, etc) rather than MC or CC.

The eyes shown in photo are buttons but can also use 2 oval black glass beads sewn over the tops of 2 holed mother-of-pearl buttons. Embroidered whiskers and nose complete the face. I included the directions for cutting the foam pillow into the cat head shape (use scissors).
